Job Title: Fish Passage EngineerJob Description We are seeking a Lead Fisheries Engineer with over 15 years of relevant experience in the field. The ideal candidate will possess a current Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in a state within the Pacific Northwest or California, and have the capability to obtain licenses in other states. The role requires specialized experience in major fish passage work, typically seen at dams, involving structures such as ladders, screens, sorting facilities, baffles, and pumps. Responsibilities + Lead and manage engineering design teams to deliver successful projects. + Provide excellent client service and contribute to business development by preparing, pricing proposals, and negotiating contracts. + Collaborate with multiple disciplines throughout the organization to execute projects related to fish passages, hatcheries, and dam systems. + Engage with clients and the public, including Native American tribes, wildlife agencies, fish and game departments, and the US Army Corps of Engineers. + Oversee heavy structural projects related to fish passage, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. + Manage hatcheries projects, leveraging expertise in wildlife and fish management. Essential Skills + Extensive experience with fish collection, transport, screening, monitoring, and hatcheries. + Strong regional experience on the West Coast, as fisheries issues differ from the Eastern U.S. + Proven track record in hydraulic design, mechanical design, and project management. + Experience in designing and managing work with fish elevators and passages near dams. + Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering, or a background in Biology. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with fish ladders, trap and haul systems, and fish diversion structures. + Project leadership and program management skills. + Ability to grow and integrate internal teams for seamless project execution. + Ideally 12 years of experience, but 8 years will be considered. Work Environment The position offers a flexible work model, ideally requiring the candidate to come into the office a few times a week, though not fully remote. Occasional travel throughout the Northwest is needed for client and project visits, which the candidate will schedule at their convenience. While the preferred location is Washington, Oregon, Idaho, or California, candidates from anywhere in the U.S. are welcome to apply. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Seattle, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $160000.00 - $210000.00/yr.
