District Overview Kiewit Southwest District specializes in heavy civil, transportation and water projects, we typically self-perform a large portion of the work. We do self-performance work such as mass grading, drainage, PCCP paving, utilities and more. We are looking for people committed to the construction industry with safety, quality, costs and schedule in mind. Location Multiple locations, depending on project needs in the Southwest. Responsibilities Safety Planning and Implementation: u2022 Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans and procedures specific to heavy civil, transportation, and water resource projects. u2022 Ensure that safety protocols are aligned with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and Kiewit's safety standards. u2022 Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and assess safety risks. Training and Education: u2022 Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and subcontractors. Provide guidance on safety-related certifications and qualifications required for specific job roles. u2022 Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability across all levels of the organization. Incident Management and Investigation: u2022 Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents. u2022 Analyze root causes of incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Ensure timely reporting of all safety incidents in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Regulatory Compliance: u2022 Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and standards applicable to heavy civil, transportation, and water resource construction. u2022 Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies. Coordinate with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits. Safety Performance Monitoring: u2022 Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure safety performance on projects. u2022 Conduct regular assessments and audits to evaluate adherence to safety standards and identify areas for improvement. u2022 Provide timely and accurate safety reports to project management and senior leadership. Qualifications Education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Years of experience will be considered in lieu. u2022 Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in construction safety management, ideally with a focus on heavy civil, transportation and/or water resource projects. u2022 In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. u2022 Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a safety program on projects of increasing complexity. u2022 Strong written and verbal communication skills u2022 Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies. u2022 Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done. u2022 Willingness to travel and relocate to project sites as needed.
