Houston, TX, USA Construction Engineering and Inspection Full Time Position Summary Thompson Engineering is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our inspection and quality assurance team. This position is responsible for performing welding inspections and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, project specifications, and industry standards across a variety of construction and industrial projects throughout the Southeast.This role requires the ability and willingness to travel to project sites, including multi-state assignments, and work in field environments as needed to support active construction operations. Key Responsibilities u2022 Perform visual welding inspections in accordance with applicable codes and project specifications (AWS, ASME, API, etc.)u2022 Verify compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)u2022 Confirm welder qualifications and maintain required documentationu2022 Interpret construction drawings, welding symbols, and technical specificationsu2022 Document inspection findings, non-conformances, and corrective actionsu2022 Coordinate and monitor non-destructive testing (NDT) activities as requiredu2022 Prepare daily field reports, inspection summaries, and supporting documentationu2022 Travel to various job sites, including out-of-town and multi-state assignments, as requiredu2022 Follow established safety policies and quality control proceduresu2022 Communicate effectively with project managers, field staff, contractors, and clients Qualifications u2022 Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification issued by the American Welding Society (AWS)u2022 High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in welding technology or related field preferredu2022 Minimum 3 years of welding inspection experience preferredu2022 Working knowledge of applicable welding codes such as AWS D1.1, API 1104, and ASME Section IXu2022 Strong understanding of welding processes and inspection techniquesu2022 Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and digital reporting systemsu2022 Strong written and verbal communication skillsu2022 Valid driver's license with a clean driving recordu2022 Ability and willingness to travel frequently and work extended hours based on project needs Physical and Work Environment Requirements u2022 Ability to work in outdoor and construction site environmentsu2022 Ability to stand for extended periods and navigate uneven terrainu2022 Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform field-related tasksu2022 Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and travel assignments, based on project needs
