The technician works independently and collaborates closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure highu2011quality imaging and patient care. Qualifications + Education/Certification: + Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography or Echocardiography program. + Registry eligible or credentialed as RDCS or RCS (preferred). + Experience: + Demonstrated proficiency performing transthoracic echocardiograms; experience with Doppler, Mu2011mode, and 2D imaging. + Experience in a clinical or hospital setting preferred. + Knowledge/Skills: + Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and common cardiac pathologies. + Ability to operate and troubleshoot echocardiography equipment. + Proficiency in recognizing and documenting abnormal findings. + Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and interdisciplinary teams. + Other Requirements: + Ability to lift, position, and assist patients as needed. + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Duties + Perform complete and limited transthoracic echocardiograms, including 2D, Mu2011mode, spectral and color Doppler imaging. + Obtain accurate measurements and thoroughly document findings in accordance with VA and cardiology laboratory protocols. + Prepare preliminary imaging summaries for physician interpretation. + Maintain and operate ultrasound equipment, performing routine quality checks and reporting malfunctions. + Ensure patient safety, comfort, and proper positioning during all imaging procedures. + Assist with stress echocardiograms and emergency studies as required. + Adhere to infection control, safety standards, and VA policies. + Support workflow efficiency by managing exam scheduling, patient preparation, and timely data entry.
