Summary The Miami VA Healthcare System's Surgery Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Gynecologist. Ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program. You must be an excellent communicator and team player who is adaptable to the needs of a growing medical center. Responsibilities This is an open continuous announcement that will remain open until filled. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Eligible applicants will be referred each week for consideration until a selection is made. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME). Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement). Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification). Duties include but not limited to the following: Provide both outpatient and inpatient care to Veteran patients. Provide inpatient or outpatient pre-operative, operative, and post-operative care are not limited to: loop electrosurgical excision, cold knife cone, diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy, laparoscopic bilateral salpingectomy/oophorectomy/excision of endometriosis, hysterectomy (minimally invasive and open), myomectomy (minimally invasive and open). Outpatient procedures are not limited to: pap smear, colposcopy, cervical/vaginal biopsy, implant placement (IUD, etonogestrel implant), endometrial biopsy and case consultation. Educate patients and their families on treatment options and preventative measures. Collaborate with healthcare team to provide comprehensive patient care. Selectee will participate fully in the duties of the section of GYN Surgery Ensure quality assurances of the service and the delivery of healthcare by participating in service, careline, and institutional peer reviews. Respond to reports of contact, incident reports, signed statements, and customer complaints; and, participate in root cause analyses. Will provide surgical consultation to patients in both telehealth and in-person settings. Document patients' symptoms, order diagnostic tests, follow up with lab results, and discuss/recommend treatment options to patients. Serve as a member of medical staff to provide advisory and consultative services on meetings, committees, conferences and/or boards. Coordinate care of Veterans with facility and community resources. Participate in clinical call consistent with assigned clinical hours. Responsible for the education and evaluation of medical students, residents, and fellows within the service. Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm (Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs).
