In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out electrical engineering assignments that impact Avistau2019s Generation Facilities. As an Electrical Engineer, you will collaborate with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders such as operators to develop designs that allow for safe operation and maintenance of Avistau2019s generation assets. Responsibilities + Design improvements to generating electricity. + Specify, evaluate and purchase electrical equipment such as AC and DC panelboards, switchgear, motor control centers, batteries, chargers, UPS systems, generators, unit auxiliaries, transformers, breakers, busbar, cabling and balance of plant systems. + Lead, create, modify and review generation station design, drawings including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, protection and control schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, physical layouts, and construction details. + Provide field engineering and commissioning support during construction, commissioning and troubleshooting. + Track and update electrical equipment, load lists, and panel schedules. + Perform/review electrical studies including load calculations, short circuit analysis, low voltage protection & coordination, and arc flash analysis. + Manages engineering projects and issues of increasing complexity, size, and number of projects. + Develops creative solutions and builds business case to implement those solutions. + Respond to technical data requests from utility commissions or other agencies. + Engage in internal or community support activities, including community volunteerism, engagement with utility industry groups, or participation in internal Avista resource groups, initiatives, or councils. + Mentor other engineers and/or those looking to enter engineering profession. Requirements + Bachelor of Science in ABET accredited Engineering Program + Effective and flexible communication skills + Experience with Thermal, Hydro and Generation Assets + Ability to travel overnight and work at remote locations when needed Associate Engineer: + Minimum of two years of engineering work experience required Hiring Range: $88,336 to $114,838 Engineer: + Minimum of four years engineering work experience required Hiring Range: $100,378 to $131,496 Senior Engineer: + Minimum of six years engineering work experience required + Demonstrated skills illustrating use of productivity, presentation, and analytical tools specific to area of expertise + Demonstrated technical leadership within engineering + Demonstrated positive and effective working relationships with internal and external parties + Specialty technical proficiency, project leadership, and ability to be self-directed Hiring Range: $114,207 to $150,183 Other combinations of experience, training, and education may be considered. Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane, Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with additional day(s) determined by the manager.
