Employment Type:Full timeShift:Rotating ShiftDescription:SUMMARYProvides non-invasive EEG testing and continuous monitoring for Neurology/Epilepsy patients in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit(EMU), including computer set up, editing, and data mining. Responsible for the production of high quality neurodiagnostic testsneeded to provide physicians with clinical data to aid in establishing a diagnosis. Communicates and works with Neurologists in amanner that improves patient care.QUALIFICATIONEducationMinimum Graduate of an accredited Electro neurodiagnostic Program (END) program or on the job training with aminimum of two years' experience.Preferred Graduate of an accredited Electro neurodiagnostic Program (END) with a minimum of an associate's degreeand one-year electro neurodiagnostic experience.Credentials/LicensureMinimum Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification or ability to obtain upon hire.Preferred associate's degree in health sciences. Ability to complete certification as an EEG Technologist by theAmerican Board of Electro neurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET) within two years of hire.Related ExperienceMinimum Satisfactory completion of CCF EEG Course and Testing.Preferred Non-invasive EEG testing competence.Other Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMinimum Ability to read, write, and understand English, comprehends training manuals, duty lists, paperwork andforms. Follows basic directions. Works independently and demonstrates safe work puter CompetencyFamiliarity with standard desktop and windows-based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranetand computer navigation. Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.Physical/MentalStand, sit (80-100% of the time); Bend, climb, reach, restrain, twist (50-80%). Crawl, squat, crouch, stoop, kneel(21-50%); Lift / carry, push / pull objects weighing more than 60 lbs. (50-80%); Perform detailed tasks (5-20%),work with interruptions and changing work priorities (80-100%); Hear speech, speak loudly / softly; Distinguishsounds, colors, hot / cold surfaces, temperatures, odors; Utilize far / near vision depth perception, fine motor skills,manual dexterity. Ability to lift up to a maximum of 35lbs. and perform push/pull tasks that require a maximumforce of 35 lbs. Ability to physically operate safe patient movement equipment in compliance with the Safe PatientMovement Policy.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs long-term monitoring of adult and pediatric patients using closed circuit and digital audio/visual equipment and electrophysiological recording equipment. Sets up computer and calibrates amplifiers using appropriate settings. Works with several different computer programs to save sample recordings, edit data, archive data, and enter pertinentinformation into the epilepsy database. Interacts with patients during seizures or spells, interviews the patient and performs tests of cognitive, motor, memory andspeech functions during and following seizures. Provides assistance to nursing staff as required in all urgent situations. Scans patient’s data continually for spikes, seizures and other unusual recordings and artifacts. Troubleshoots all EEG, video equipment, connectors and cabling. Ensures all video equipment is properly focused, iris adjustedand camera positions are correct for patient’s seizures. Sets up computer and calibrates amplifiers using appropriate settings. Performs record keeping duties using the computer, maintains daily logs of the patient’s status and reports same to piles and forwards billing information to the work leader or supervisor. Knowledge of set-up for recording and stimulation of monitoring electrodes and care for patients with invasive electrodes.Helps with head dressing changes for invasive monitored patients. Explains monitoring procedures to the patients and their families. Performs all duties of an EEG Technician. Assists physicians with invasive procedures (i.e. EMG). Maintains adequate supply inventory. Performs all neurodiagnostic procedures and operates all machines, in a safe and proper manner. Performs all clerical and support functions associated with neurodiagnostic procedures. Articulates exam results accurately, as directed by Neurologist to physicians or designee and RNs. Responsible for self-education. Performs other related duties as assigned.Our Commitment Rooted in our Mission and Core Values, we honor the dignity of every person and recognize the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents each colleague brings.
