This is an exceptional opportunity to practice high‑acuity trauma care within a collaborative, academically enriched environment backed by robust system resources.High‑Acuity, High‑Volume Trauma PracticeJoin a Level II Trauma Center nested within the busiest Emergency and Trauma Department in Tampa Bay, offering consistent exposure to high‑complexity, penetrating and blunt trauma cases.St. Joseph’s Hospital is a 615‑bed tertiary referral center with approximately 70,000 ER visits annually, providing steady trauma volumes and diverse pathology.Collaborative, Multidisciplinary Team-Based CareWork alongside a well-established team of experienced trauma and acute care surgeons, supported by skilled Advanced Practice Providers who help optimize workflow, continuity of care, and patient experience.Enjoy close collaboration with critical care, neurosurgery, orthopedics, vascular surgery, and other key service lines integral to trauma performance.Significant Presence in the Surgical ICUExpanded responsibilities within the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), with opportunities to shape critical care management protocols and participate in quality initiatives across trauma and critical care programs.Academic Involvement & Teaching OpportunitiesServe as core faculty within a robust surgical residency program, with trauma surgeons playing an active role in resident education, clinical teaching, procedure supervision, curriculum development, and bedside mentoring.Candidates with prior academic or teaching experience—or strong interest in education—will thrive in this setting.System Strength & Physician-Led StructureBayCare Medical Group is a physician-led organization, empowering surgeons to influence program development, care pathways, and operational decisions.Access advanced resources, including data analytics, trauma performance improvement infrastructure, and strong administrative support.Board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery with fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care or Trauma/Acute Care SurgeryPreferably experienced and comfortable in high-acuity trauma careStrong interest in teaching residents and engaging in academic activityTeam-oriented, collaborative, and committed to high-quality patient careBenefits:BayCare Medical Group offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package to attract and retain top talent.
