The Fleet Maintenance Shop Manager directly oversees the operation of transportation equipment maintenance program in City, State. Incumbent is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair activities of both in-house fleet maintenance technicians and external contractors to ensure it is completed in a timely and orderly fashion, the right way, the first time. Knowledgeable in most areas of truck/trailer maintenance, the Fleet Maintenance Shop Manager provides team leadership and necessary coaching to develop Fleet Maintenance Technicians and other personnel into dynamic problem-solving team members focused on caring for their teammates in Transportation, the Distribution Center and ultimately the Operators and Restaurants.The Fleet Maintenance Shop Manager demonstrates a service first attitude while maintaining fiscally responsible behaviors in planning/scheduling maintenance, working with external vendors / suppliers and managing on-site tools, equipment, and spare parts. Our Fleet Maintenance Shop Manager works with external vendors to ensure accurate and timely invoicing and vendor payment and ensuring that contract terms and service level agreements are met.In addition, the Fleet Maintenance Shop Manager directly participates in the hiring and training of Fleet Maintenance field resources. This includes up to 3 shifts of employees working both nights and weekendsDevelops strategies and plans to align available resources and external service providers with the needs of Transportation Operations to maximize the availability of safe and reliable equipmentEnsures that maintenance operations are performed in a safe and timely manner in compliance with safety, quality, and compliance requirements and industry standards; understands new/planned regulatory changes and its impact on operationsPerforms inspections of work being performed and provides feedbackEnsures maintenance requirements are understood including training team on required activities and desired outcomes and ensuring the maintenance SOPs are routinely reviewed and updatedPlans and dispatches daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance activities, including the coordination of services from external vendorsResponsible and accountable for all maintenance technicians and contractors working in a safe mannerDirectly participates in the hiring of new staff or onboarding of new contractorsLeads shop continuous improvement effortsProactively communicates with Transportation Operations / DC Operations any and all maintenance issues which can disrupt delivery service to restaurantsReviews performance reports/dashboards to determine if desired outcomes (e.g. KPIs, SLAs) are being achieved and initiates corrective action to address areas requiring attention; performs analysis including trend analysis, root cause analysis, etc.Performs vendor management activities including participating in third-party governance meetingsPerforms quality assurance reviews to ensure that fleet maintenance requirements are being metSupports off-shift critical work and emergency repairsPerforms duties of Fleet Maintenance Technician, when neededDiagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems, utilizing technology/software where requiredAssists and provides guidance with the diagnostics and repair of complex tasks and activitiesParticipates in the capital planning process and repair vs. replace decisionsAccountable for ensuring spare parts, tools, equipment, and PPE necessary to support the maintenance operations are available when neededCoaches teams through effective execution and build capability and ownership of systems.Trains staff, as requiredAt least annually, reviews Fleet Management procedures to ensure they are up-to-date and recommends changes as necessaryHas P&L responsibilities for the Cartersville, GA shop and oversees the annual budgetHigh school diploma or G.E.D.8+ years of related experience in Fleet Management and Maintenance5+ years of experience in supervisingDemonstrated proficiency in all aspects of on-highway vehicle maintenance (tractors, refrigerated trailers, box trucks, liftgates)Maintains industry-leading knowledge in and offers suggestions/solutions for continuous improvementUnderstanding and safety, quality, and compliance requirementsHighly motivated with strong interpersonal skills; a team player, yet also able to work independently when necessaryExcellent written/verbal communication skillsExcellent problem-solving and multitasking skillsPrior experience using a CMMS / FMMS SolutionProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to travel as required if necessary to support Transportation Operations remotelyProficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking): to safely follow verbal instructions, complete documentation and paperwork, and accurately interpret labels, pick lists, scanner prompts, signage, and company communications.10 years of experience related to Fleet Maintenance for on-highway vehiclesEPA 608 & EPA 609 License HolderClass “A” CDL HolderASE Certifications Maintained / Up-to-DateAbility to lead as a servant leader with a demonstrated sense of humilityDeep and robust knowledge of industry standard, leading practices, and industry benchmarksDemonstrated knowledge of both alternative fuel vehicles and the capabilities required to support their use515%High School Diploma or GEDAssociate's Degree
