Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join a small accounting team in Calverton, NY. This is a long-term opportunity starting part-time (3 days per week), with the potential to transition into a full-time role after approximately six months. The position reports directly to the Assistant Controller and can lead to broader accounting functions including Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger responsibilities. The team is looking to hire as soon as possible but can accommodate up to one weeku2019s notice if needed. Responsibilities: + Process, verify, and code vendor invoices accurately and in compliance with company policies + Allocate invoices to appropriate general ledger accounts + Perform regular check runs and prepare vendor payments in a timely manner + Maintain organized and accurate accounts payable records + Communicate with vendors to resolve payment discrepancies or inquiries + Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper invoice approvals and documentation + Monitor and reconcile accounts payable balances + Assist in preparing reports related to AP activity + Support process improvements and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulation Requirements u2022 Proven experience in accounts payable or a similar role. u2022 Strong knowledge of invoice processing and coding procedures. u2022 Familiarity with conducting check runs and managing payments. u2022 Proficiency in financial software and tools relevant to accounts payable. u2022 Excellent organizational and time management skills. u2022 Ability to effectively resolve vendor-related issues and discrepancies. u2022 Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. u2022 Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
