Summary The Biomedical Engineer position is a full time 40 hour a week position located in the Clinical Engineering Department at the VA Bedford Healthcare System in Bedford, MA. Responsibilities This Biomedical Engineer position is located in the Clinical Engineering services at the VA Bedford Healthcare System, located at the Bedford, MA location. The Biomedical Engineer will, in collaboration with their advisor, achieve assigned professional development objectives that supplement the required core objectives required to fulfill requirements of the Biomedical Engineer qualification standards. They will complete these objectives to the satisfaction of the supervisor. Duties may include, but are not limited to: Uses engineering principles to provide limited professional, biomedical services for the institution, insofar as these services do not interfere with the attainment of objectives. Projects or assignments typically include facility-based work and may include VISN or National Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) projects. Continually learns new technology, identifies trends, and presents to other technical staff. The incumbent must be able to utilize this information to solve biomedical engineering problems. Rotates through, and participates in, the operations of other hospital services. Attends national Healthcare Technology Management calls. Meets with advisor on a regular basis to provide updates on assigned projects and training progress. Completes all trainings outlined by the advisor. Performs other duties as assigned. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Notifications: This position is in the Excepted Service.
