Job Description

Some of what you'll be doing: This is a full-time summer internship opportunity. Some of your essential duties may include: + Support staff in the evaluation of public access to facilities and related programs and services through a lens of accessibility and ADA compliance at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. + Conduct field visits to Port-owned Maritime facilities to survey for ADA compliance, record findings, create ADA transition plans, and share with Port stakeholders. + Participate in meetings with internal stakeholders to address accessibility related deficiencies or to advance accessibility related programs. + Increase knowledge base of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, ADAAG, and other accessibility codes and regulations. + Build knowledge of various alternative formats and alternative technologies that enable people with disabilities to communicate, participate in, and perform tasks. + Support the SEA Access team in community engagement events when possible. + Learn the basics of aviation architecture u2013 the ability to read and understand construction drawings, and learn relevant terms such as presecurity, postsecurity, etc. + Maintain accessibility SharePoint page and photo database. What else you need to know: + Work Schedule u2013 Your normal work schedule will be Monday u2013 Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. + Work Environment u2013 This work will take place in a hybrid remote/in-office setting at Managementu2019s discretion. + Limited Duration u2013 This is a limited-duration position and is expected to last no longer than five months. + Safety Requirements u2013 You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. + Security Requirements u2013 As the successful candidate, you will/must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. + Washington State Residency Requirement u2013 Employees must establish a residence in Washington State within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle.
