Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflightThis role is part of TeraWave, a satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This network will service tens of thousands of enterprise, data center, and government users who require reliable connectivity for critical operations.As the Network Modelling and Simulation Engineer, you will play a vital leadership role within a team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, significantly contributing to the operation of the constellation and the network operations center.Your role will involve utilizing your expertise with network modelling and simulation to help define the network architecture of the constellation, create a simulator which can be used to examine implementations of the architecture, and working with the team to realize the architecture.Special MentionsThis role will be onsite in Bay Area, CA. It is approved for a temporary remote work exception while our local site is developedRelocation assistance is available for this positionTravel may be required up to 15% of the time to Blue Origin facilities and partner locationsResponsibilities include but are not limited to:Develop and extend large-scale simulation software for TeraWave's multi-orbit satellite constellation, focusing on network theory, architecture, and performance modelingSimulate and analyze network traffic patterns, bandwidth utilization, and quality of service across various operational scenariosModel and optimize optical inter-satellite links to achieve TeraWave's 6 Tbps throughput targetsDevelop simulation frameworks to evaluate network resilience against potential failure modes and security threatsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate network capabilities into broader systems and applicationsAnalyze network performance and troubleshoot complex issues across distributed systemsImplement security best practices and protocols to protect network infrastructureEvaluate and recommend new networking technologies and solutions to enhance network capabilities and performanceUnderstand the implications of network planning on spacecraft operations and design accordinglyLead technical discussions and provide expert guidance on networking solutionsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, or related technical field7+ years of experience in network architecture, design, or engineeringDeep understanding of network simulation tools and platformsStrong understanding of networking and network protocols including MEF, SD-WAN, BGP, MPLS, SRv6, L2 VPNs, L3 VPNsExperience with architecting, designing, or developing software-defined networking solutionsStrong programming skills in MATLAB, C/C++, Python, or similar languagesProficiency in developing and maintaining network architecture diagrams and technical documentationData analysis skills for evaluating network metrics and behaviors.Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylumPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field10+ years of experience in network architecture with focus on routingExperience with tools such as NS-3, OPNET, or OMNeT++ for simulationExperience with networking for constrained links su
