Company: Byer Steel (An MRA Member)Position: Fleet and Mobile Equipment Operations ManagerLocation: Cincinnati, OHJOB SUMMARYThe Fleet and Mobile Equipment Operations Manager provides strategic leadership over fleet vehicles and mobile equipment supporting steel fabrication operations. Leads maintenance teams and operators to maximize equipment availability, safety and productivity while controlling costs. This role manages load logistics/planning, dispatching and coordination with rebar and scrap leadership, maintenance program, equipment lifecycle management, regulatory compliance, vendor relationships, and operational performance to ensure maximum uptime and productivity.PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESEssential Job DutiesSafety & Complianceu2022 Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations (ex: DOT, OSHA)u2022 Implement and enforce fleet safety programs, policies and trainingu2022 Investigate incidents, accidents and equipment failures; implement corrective actionsFleet, Equipment & Operational Managementu2022 Oversee daily fleet operations, dispatching loads, coordinating overnight loads, load scheduling and operational planning. Permits for oversize loadsu2022 Coordinating overnight trip planning and lodging for drivers.u2022 Manage fleet documentation and asset records for insurance purposes and life cycle planningu2022 Ensure equipment availability, reliability for operational needs and complianceu2022 Develop and manage preventative maintenance and inspection program. Essential fleet equipmentu2022 Work with leasing company on all leased trucks and required complianceu2022 Manage Transportation department budgetu2022 Assist with deliveries as neededCompliance & Regulatory Oversightu2022 Working with Customs Broker for any loads crossing the border (Canada)u2022 Examine, measure or weight material to determine specific handling requirementsu2022 ELD review for all drivers working within allowable hours of serviceu2022 Oversee all permits management and license plate renewals for truck/trailersu2022 Maintaining Driver records, renewals of driver's license, medical card renewals and verification and yearly clearing house/BMV checksu2022 Explain and demonstrate work tasks to new hires (ex: road test) or assign training tasks to experienced workersu2022 Timecard review and allocating cost centers in payrollMaintenance & Infrastructure Managementu2022 Supervise in-house truck shop mechanics teamu2022 Plan and manage repairs, approve maintenance-related purchases, coordinate third-party repair vendors and towing services, and evaluate budget and downtime impacts to support efficient operations.u2022 Coordinates vehicle and property maintenance (on-site roadway maintenance)Qualifications and Experienceu2022 5 plus years' experience in fleet, equipment or maintenance managementu2022 Strong leadership skills, analytical mindset with attention to detailu2022 Ability to articulate and work with customers, supervisors, or other personnel to exchange information or to resolve issuesu2022 Excellent communication and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentu2022 Problem-solving and continuous improvement focusu2022 Proficient in excel spreadsheets, formulas, pivot tables, word, and able to grasp new software quicklyu2022 Track and analyze fleet performance, metrics such as maintenance cost, fuel efficiency and utilizationu2022 CDL License -- PreferredPhysical & work Environment Requirementsu2022 Ability to work in shop, and office environmentsu2022 On-call availability for critical equipment issues may be requiredu2022 Work is performed in a manufacturing and production facility with exposure to moving machinery, industrial equipment,
