Victory Learning Center is looking for float positions to help assist our classroom staff Victory Learning Center programs offer specialized educational services for students who are diagnosed with Autism or a Cognitive Disability paired with a mental-health diagnosis. There are two separate sites conveniently located in Lackawanna, NY, servicing students ages 5-21 who are residentially placed or are referred through their local school district's Committee on Special Education. Staff working in an educational setting are responsible for the delivery of evidence-based methods to support individualsu2019 special needs. These methods include Applied Behavior Analysis, Restorative Practices, and Trauma Informed Care. The Education Support Staff (Float) will provide classroom support in the event of staff absence or staff shortages. This position will also provide direct support for students attending the WAY program. Essential Job Duties: The Education Support Staff (Float) must be able to successfully perform all essential functions of the position as follows: u2022The primary role of the Education Support Staff is to provide coverage wherever needed to maintain ratio. Daily assignments will vary based on the needs of the building. Assignments may include: + + Driving to gym (Martin Rd Location) + Lunch coverage while staff members take breaks + Additional support for students during special area times + CSE and meeting coverage while staff members attend + Being assigned to either VLC location due to staffing needs u2022 Will be assigned on a rotating basis to attend WAY activities with students that need additional support during time out of the building. u2022 Will be assigned arrival and dismissal duties. u2022 Takes an active role in participating in and supporting a therapeutic and safe milieu. u2022 Develops a working knowledge of therapeutic interventions and interactions. u2022 Responsible for assistance with personal hygiene tasks, as required. u2022 Attends and participates in community meetings, team meetings, and debrief meetings. u2022 Assists with conducting professional development training and team building activities. u2022 Performs all scheduled cleaning tasks and environmental rounds. u2022 Performs student belongings searches, as directed by administration. Understands the contraband list. u2022 Any other duty as assigned by your supervisor. Skills: u2022 Computer skills u2022 Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel in particular) u2022 Knowledge of basic sign language a plus, but not a requirement. Minimum Education Required: Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma Preferred: Associates Degree or Higher in Human Services, Special Education or related field Experience: Minimum Experience Required: 3-5 years in the development/implementation of behavior support plans with individuals who have developmental disabilities and/or mental health concerns. Must demonstrate basic knowledge and competencies in Applied Behavioral Analysis Required License/Registration/ Certification: u2022 Valid NYS Driveru2019s License Training Requirements: u2022 All required agency trainings (including Applied Behavior Analysis, SCIP-R) u2022 All trainings required by programs in which you service individuals Physical Requirements: The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required.
