JOB REQUIREMENTS: What you will do Johnson Controls is hiring TheControls Engineering Fellow - Data Centers, is a senior individualcontributor role within the Data Center engineering organization. Thisperson serves as the enterprise-wide technical authority on controlsarchitecture, building automation systems, and intelligent orchestrationof data center infrastructure. The Fellow shapes multi-year technologystrategy, drives innovation at the intersection of OT and IT andrepresents Johnson Controls as a recognized thought leader across theindustry. This role is a deep technical leadership position that carriesinfluence across the organization. The Fellow operates acrossorganizational boundaries and is expected to generate outsized impactthrough vision-setting, mentorship, and hands-on architecturalcontributions. This is a remote opportunity for candidates based in theUS. How you will do it Technical Vision & Strategy Define the 3 to5-year controls architecture roadmap for Johnson Controls' data centerbusiness, encompassing BMS/BAS platforms (Metasys), edge controllers,cloud-native supervisory systems, and AI/ML-driven autonomousoperations. Evaluate emerging paradigms-digital twins, model-predictivecontrol, reinforcement learning for thermal optimization, autonomousfault diagnostics-and determine which should be incorporated into theJCI product and solutions portfolio. Provide authoritative technicalguidance on controls integration across the full data center thermalchain: chillers, cooling distribution units (CDUs), rear-door heatexchangers, direct-to-chip liquid cooling loops, and airsideeconomizers. Architect end-to-end control strategies that span fromrack-level power and thermal sensing through facility-level SCADA/BMS tocloud-based fleet analytics. Innovation & Intellectual Property Driveinnovation related to controls algorithms, sensor fusion techniques, andintelligent sequencing strategies for mission-critical coolinginfrastructure. Lead proof-of-concept development for next-generationcontrol approaches, including integration with GPU-aware workloadorchestration and dynamic power/thermal co-optimization.
