The college actively promotes a dynamic and inclusive environment in which students and employees of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives can learn and work.Job SummaryThe Paraprofessional (Southwest Studies) provides a variety of support to program faculty, staff, and students.Responsibilitiesu2022 Support audio-visual work with Southwest Studies Program faculty for invited campus speakers, Aficionados, or special evening events (live recording, podcasts, etc.).u2022 Accompany professors on field trips, assisting in the planning of trips, logistics, on-site educational coordination, driving, and clean-up.u2022 Maintain and regularly update the web (cms) pages for the Hulbert Center and the academic program, hallway bulletin boards; help produce the program newsletter, taking notes and photographs at program events, requesting submissions from students, alumni and professors, editing and layout.u2022 Serve as a liaison and resource for students, assisting seniors on mechanics of senior papers, help facilitate the Southwest Studies senior showcase in the spring, maintaining information databases on graduate schools, field schools, internships, and job opportunities, and helping to organize guest speaker lunches.u2022 Support the program's administrative assistant in a variety of tasks, including attending program meetings and planning program activities, recruiting majors, minors, and project support for affiliated Southwest Studies faculty.u2022 Aid the Academic Administrative Assistant in setting up classrooms and lecture spaces as needed; maintain and run audio-visual equipment; support Hulbert Center speaker events/travel logistics (Aficionados), and other duties including occasional photocopying or running errands.Minimum Qualificationsu2022 A Bachelor's degree; must have successfully completed at least one Southwest Studies course; good communication skills, a sense of responsibility, and a commitment to excellence; ability to manage time and work priorities; ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds; leadership skills; strong knowledge and understanding of Southwest Studies frameworks and classes; willingness to work on a weeknight or weekend day when needed; advanced word processing skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, willingness to learn .cms website software, some database management skills.u2022 Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College's motor vehicle insurance carrier.Preferred QualificationsApplicants are welcome to apply even if you do not meet the preferred qualifications.
