Summary The Clinical Nurse Manager is a Registered Nurse who will be the designated first-line supervisory authority within the Domiciliary at John D. Dingell VA Medical Center. They will be responsible and accountable for the operation of their assigned units, training, and staff development. Serves as a role model, engages in interdisciplinary collaboration with other disciplines, leads process improvement initiatives to improve quality of care outcomes and patient experience. Responsibilities Experience we are looking for: Strong nursing leadership with prior experience as an assistant manager or nurse manager, 2+ years preferred BSN required, MSN or MHA preferred Mental health, residential or homeless experience preferred but not required Strong process improvement experience preferred, Lean Six Sigma Certification or Lean for Health Healthcare Providers. Brief Description of the Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (DRRTP): The Detroit VA Medical Center Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Treatment program (DRRTP) is a 50-bed residential program. The Detroit DRRTP provides a residential level of care for veteran populations including medical, psychiatric, SUD, PTSD and homelessness. Located approximately 10 miles from the Medical Center in the City of Detroit. The DRRTP provides 24 hour a day/7 days per week structured and support residential environment as a part of the rehabilitative treatment regime. The DRRTP provides a safe, comfortable living environment and treatment services to eligible veterans, both male and female of all ages, in need of rehabilitation treatment in order to become fully independent and self-sufficient members of the community again. Veterans accepted into the program must be willing and able to take an active role in their recovery process. The DRRTP is a part of the Mental Health Service Line at the Detroit John D. Dingell Medical Center. The DRRTP provides an array of services within the Domiciliary program. The staff also coordinates with other VA programs and providers, as well as community partners to assist veterans in reaching their recovery goals. The DRRTP works toward continuity of care with other mental health services, including; Inpatient Psychiatric Services, Transitions (formerly, Partial Hospitalization Program), Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Program (PRRC), Substance Use Disorder Program (SUD), Compensated Work Therapy (CWT), Transitional Work Experience (TWE), Support Employment Program (SE), Outpatient Mental Health Clinic, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Program, Military Sexual Trauma, HUD/VASH program, Emergency Services, and Primary Care. Duties: The Clinical Nurse Manager (NM) is responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. Enhances care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes. The NM engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. Equips staff with tools for competent care and promotes an environment of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. The NM contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable patient care. Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. Promotes a workplace positively to achieve the organizations vision and mission. The NM maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP). Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team. Partners with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes. Supports colleagues through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Shares educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers. Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. Participates in activities and strategies to sustain evidence-based-practice.
