Shift: 1st Shift Working days: Mon - Fri SUMMARY The Assistant Industrial Engineering Manager is responsible for supporting the planning, design, implementation, and management of integrated production and service delivery systems that ensure performance, reliability, maintainability, schedule adherence, cost control, and risk mitigation within the manufacturing site. This role partners closely with the Industrial Engineering Manager to drive operational excellence through advanced capacity modeling, labor optimization, facility layout design, ergonomic risk reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Assistant Manager ensures data integrity, process standardization, and execution of Industrial Engineering strategies aligned with global and regional direction. This position promotes profitability, efficiency, adaptability, responsiveness, quality, safety, and lifecycle cost optimization across all assigned workcells, with a strong emphasis on PFMEA leadership, risk-based decision making, and scalable manufacturing system design. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES Recruitment and Retention: u00b7 Recruit and interview Industrial Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers. u00b7 Communicate role expectations and competency criteria to recruiters for Sr. Industrial Engineer candidates. u00b7 Coach engineers in structured problem solving, PFMEA methodology, risk-based decision making, and data-driven execution. u00b7 Monitor team member turnover; identify improvement opportunities and implement retention strategies. Employee and Team Development: u00b7 Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis. u00b7 Create and/or validate Industrial Engineering training curriculum covering work measurement, labor modeling, ergonomics, PFMEA, layout simulation, and risk mitigation. u00b7 Develop and maintain training aligned to LFA manufacturing environments and complex facility design. u00b7 Mentor engineers to design safe, ergonomic, scalable, and financially optimized production systems. Performance Management: u00b7 Establish clear, measurable goals tied to productivity, labor efficiency, ergonomic risk reduction, floor space optimization, yield performance, and safety metrics.u00b7 Solicit ongoing feedback from Engineering Management, Workcell Managers (WCM), Business Unit Director (BUD), peers, and team members.u00b7 Provide coaching and corrective guidance based on KPI performance and identified risk exposure.u00b7 Establish measurable goals tied to cost reduction, throughput improvement, risk mitigation, and NPI readiness.u00b7 Drive continuous improvement across operational, safety, and ergonomic KPIs.u00b7 Coordinate engineering execution during product launches, facility modifications, capacity expansions, and production escalations. Cost Management: u00b7 Identify innovative methods to reduce cost through streamlining, ergonomic improvement, and elimination of non-value-added activities. u00b7 Lead cost-avoidance initiatives through proactive risk identification and mitigation planning. u00b7 Drive cost-down initiatives through DFA/DFM collaboration and PFMEA-driven process improvements. u00b7 Utilize analytical tools to monitor departmental cost performance, safety trends, productivity, and labor absorption metrics. TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES u00b7 Architect scalable manufacturing systems for large mechanical and electrical assemblies. u00b7 Lead comprehensive PFMEA activities to identify process risks, failure modes, and control gaps prior to launch and during sustaining production. u00b7 Conduct formal risk assessments for new equipment, layout changes, process modifications, and facility upgrades. u00b7 Develop mitigation strategies to reduce operational, safety, quality, and capacity risks. u00b7 Lead ergonomic assessments including: u2022 Repetitive motion analysis u2022 Lifting and load evaluations u2022 Reach zone optimization u2022 Workstation height and adjustability validation u2022 Fatigue reduction strategies u2022 Compliance with ergonomic standards and best practices u00b7 Lead facility layout design including production flow, staging, warehouse integration, receiving, shipping, PFEP, and detrash strategies. u00b7 Support building and infrastructure modifications including: u2022 Utility capacity planning (power, air, water, drainage) u2022 Pit and foundation requirements u2022 Structural modifications impacting production flow u2022 Equipment footprint and heavy material handling paths u00b7 Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews during NPI. u00b7 Drive part count reduction, assembly simplification, ergonomic risk mitigation, and process standardization. u00b7 Develop advanced labor models incorporating takt time, efficiency, yield, and demand variability. u00b7 Own time studies, work measurement systems, and labor standards validation. u00b7 Build and maintain capacity models supporting shift strategy and growth planning. u00b7 Identify bottlenecks and implement data-driven corrective actions. u00b7 Lead layout simulations and material flow optimization studies. u00b7 Support quoting activities with detailed labor, facility, and risk-based cost analysis. u00b7 Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Facilities, EHS, and Operations to deploy safe and scalable production systems. u00b7 Enforce adherence to EHS, safety, and risk mitigation policies across all industrial engineering activities. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bacheloru2019s degree in industrial Engineering , Civil Engineering or related technical discipline required. Seven (7) or more years of progressive experience in manufacturing system design, PFMEA leadership, risk assessment execution, ergonomic analysis, and industrialization within complex assembly environments. Demonstrated experience with large-form assemblies, DFA/DFM leadership, facility layout redesign, labor modeling, and cross-functional project execution. Proven ability to lead measurable safety improvements, risk reduction initiatives, and financial performance gains. Must be able to obtain and maintain all required job-related certifications.
