Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees. Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum $41.00 - $53.00 - $65.00 Summary : Responsible for the provision of nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with current BH Standards of Care. Administers and monitors patient response to therapeutic interventions. The nurse demonstrates knowledge and application of the nursing process as it relates to patients and families. The nurse is accountable for professional nursing practice. He/she collaborates with health team members, patients/families in the provision of care. Delegates to and provides direct supervision to other health team members as appropriate in the implementation of the patient care plan. The nurse acts as an advocate for patients/families/significant others. Also, he/she practices within accepted ethical and legal parameters of nursing. Clinicians practicing at this level are competent practitioners. They are developing in their comfort with prioritization. Early on skill at this level is more focused on the time management needs of the nurse rather than timing in relation to patient needs and relies somewhat on the help of more experienced colleagues. Over time and with experience the nurse's focus shifts from that of task orientation to developing goals and a plan of care for their assigned patients across the continuum. A nurse could spend a significant amount of time in this position. This description covers the essential functions of the position. Incumbent is expected to perform similar and related duties as assigned. The Manager/Director is responsible for ensuring that the RN consistently meets the necessary behaviors. This positions is part of the Per Diem Incentive Program which requires the per diem incumbent to pre-schedule 48 hrs. of work time in a 6-week scheduling period. Working less than 416 hours annually or 2 consecutive quarters with less than 104 worked hours will result in voluntary transfer to traditional per diem employment status. The weekend commitment not to exceed 1 weekend shift per 6-week scheduling period and 2 holidays are required per year. Job Responsibilities: 1) The six Standards of Practice describe a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The nursing process includes the components of assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nursing process encompasses all significant actions taken by registered nurses, and forms the foundation of the nurse's decision-making. (ANA Standards of Nursing Practice, 2004). 2) Standard 1. Assessment: the registered nurse collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or the situation. 3) Standard 2, Diagnosis: The registered nurse analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnosis or issues. 4) Standard 3, Outcomes Identification: The registered nurse identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation. 5) Standard 4, Planning: The registered nurse develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes. 6) Standard 5, Implementation: The registered nurse implements the identified plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a healthy environment. 7) Standard 6, Evaluation: The registered nurse evaluates progress towards attainment of outcomes. 8) The RN II: 0 Role models professional nursing practice and behavior 0 Participates or contributes to unit growth at unit meetings 0 Contributes to unit activities 0 Meets unit/divisional mandatory annual requirements. 9) The register nurse manages Nurse-Patient/Family relationships which may include advocacy, comfort, cultural competence and sensitivity, therapeutic communication, education and health care transition management. 10) The registered nurse meets all clinical practice safety and quality standards.
