Our teams tackle the world’s toughest security challenges for customers with “can’t fail” missions.Leidos Defense Sector is seeking a Hybrid Cloud Engineer to join our engineering team and support the design, deployment, and sustainment of secure, scalable, cloud‑native and on‑premise systems. The ideal candidate brings strong Linux administration experience, virtualization expertise, and the ability to maintain secure, mission‑critical environments across multiple security domains.Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelop proficiency in cloud platforms and services to support future cloud migration and hybrid infrastructure initiativesAdminister and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers in both on‑prem and cloud environmentsInstall, configure, and operate Apache NiFi for dataflow automation, including processor configuration, flow monitoring, and enterprise integrationManage virtualized infrastructure and support the full lifecycle of virtual machinesPerform routine system administration tasks including OS installation, configuration management, backup/recovery, monitoring, and capacity planningSupport basic network administration tasks such as IP addressing, VLANs, routing fundamentals, firewall rule verification, and connectivity troubleshootingImplement lifecycle policies, bucket policies, encryption (KMS), and access controls for S3 storage to meet data protection and retention requirementsImplement and enforce security controls in accordance with DoD policies, STIGs, and DISA guidance; perform vulnerability remediation and compliance checksSupport cross‑domain solutions and controlled data transfers between security domains; collaborate with security and information assurance teamsMaintain system documentation, SOPs, and change control recordsRespond to incidents, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actionsCoordinate with stakeholders on system upgrades, maintenance windows, and deployment planningUse automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible) to deliver repeatable, auditable system changesParticipate in on‑call rotation and provide occasional after‑hours supportBasic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related disciple with 4+ years of related experience. Additional experience, training, or certifications may substitute for degreeU.S. citizen; Currently possessing an Active DoD Top Secret clearance and eligibility for Top Secret/SCICurrently hold a DoD 8140 IAT level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Sec+)Foundational knowledge of cloud computing concepts and services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)Have an active foundational cloud certification: AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals (AZ‑900), or Google Cloud Digital LeaderProven experience administering enterprise RHEL systemsExperience with virtualization/container technologies (VMware, KVM, or Hyper‑V)Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VLANs)Familiarity with DoD security policies and STIG implementationStrong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skillsPreferred QualificationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in multi‑disciplinary teamsExperience managing RHEL in production environments using automation tools (Ansible preferred)Familiarity with virtualization administration at scale (vSphere clusters, vCenter)Experience with cross‑domain solutions or multi‑domain architecturesKnowledge of storage systems (SAN/NAS), backup solutions, and performance tuningExperience designing, building, and operating data ingestion and streaming pipelines using Apache NiFiAdvanced cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate, Azure Administrator (AZ‑104), or Google Associate Cloud EngineerHands‑on experience deploying and managing workloads in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud PlatformFamiliarity with cloud‑native services including compute (EC2, Azure VMs), storage (S3, Azure Blob), networking (VPC, Virtual Networks), and identity management (IAM)Understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, IL4/IL5)Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormationScripting skills (Bash, Python, or PowerShell) for automation and toolingExperience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)Ready to make an impact?
