Senior Systems Engineer

Job Description:Saab, Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team to develop complex electronic surveillance systems for commercial and government customers. This role is critical to successfully developing products and executing projects to achieve Saab’s vision - It’s a human right to feel safe. This position is located at our East Syracuse, NY, office.Responsibilities include:Lead development of primary and secondary radar products which provide safety-critical airport surveillance throughout the worldLead technical investigation and top-level design for new feature development and change requests from both internal and external stakeholders.Develop MATLAB tools to support performance prediction, system and product verification, and system analysisDevelop and propose new technologies and capabilities to enhance product performanceDevelop and maintain specifications and technical documentation to support customer deliverables and internal systems engineering processes.Balance competing interests from multiple stakeholder groupsCoordinate with product development management to ensure technical, cost, and schedule objectives are achieved while maintaining acceptable levels of risk.Mentor and lead junior engineers within your team and throughout the organization.Support technical and cost proposal preparation for future programs.Domestic and international travel may be required, up to pensation Range: $115,700-$150,500The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.Skills and Experience:Required:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related discipline7+ years of relevant experience in safety-critical industries (e.g., aerospace, defense/military, medical, nuclear, etc.)Demonstrated proficiency with electromechanical and/or embedded software systemsDemonstrated MATLAB programming and data analysis skillsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to form productive relationships within a teamExcellent written and oral communications skillsAbility to lead and grow junior engineersDesired:Advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related disciplineExperience with RF systems, sensor data processing, position estimation, and/or trackingStrong Linux background in embedded and/or server systemsExperience with Eurocontrol, FAA, or other air traffic procedures, operations, and systemsExperience with requirements management, detailed design, and system/subsystem integrationExperience with networked computer systems, cybersecurity, and/or system hardeningCitizenship Requirements:Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).Drug-Free Workplaces: Saab is a federal government contractor and adheres to policies and programs necessary for sustaining drug-free workplaces.
