Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a manufacturing company in Brightwaters, New York. In this part-time role (24-32 hours per week), you will collaborate closely with the Controller to support a variety of accounting functions, ensuring smooth daily operations. This position is contract-to-permanent, offering a flexible schedule with a mandatory workday on Fridays. The role provides an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to the full accounting cycle while contributing to a dynamic and structured environment. Responsibilities: u2022 Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate transactions. u2022 Prepare and issue invoices while managing billing activities. u2022 Support month-end close procedures, including reconciling accounts and preparing journal entries. u2022 Maintain accurate financial records and handle administrative accounting tasks as required. u2022 Perform account reconciliations to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting. u2022 Collaborate with the Controller to address accounting discrepancies and improve workflows. u2022 Provide general support across accounting functions to meet organizational needs. u2022 Ensure compliance with company policies and maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information. Requirements u2022 Proven experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes. u2022 Familiarity with preparing journal entries and conducting account reconciliations. u2022 Knowledge of month-end close procedures and financial reporting practices. u2022 Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. u2022 Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks efficiently. u2022 Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office tools. u2022 Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
