No County Albany Street Address Office of Performance Improvement and Management Services Office of Facilities and Business Services City Albany State NY Zip Code 12234 Duties Description The New York State Education Departmentu2019s (NYSED) Office of Performance Improvement and Management Services is seeking candidates for a Cleaner position in the Office of Facilities and Business Services. The incumbent of this position will perform a variety of routine manual tasks requiring light, medium, and heavy physical effort in cleaning and caring for State buildings, and surrounding grounds and walkways. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:u2022 Cleaners perform a variety of routine manual tasks requiring light, medium and heavy physical effort in cleaning and caring for an assigned area in public buildings;u2022 Cleans and scrubs all areas of lavatories and locker rooms, such as sinks, urinals, toilets, stairways, showers, shower walls and drains, tile floors, and locker room common areas;u2022 Washes floors, corridors, stairs and stairwells, walls, partitions, windows from the inside or outside of buildings using mops, brushes, detergents, buffers, floor scrubbers, and other cleaning implements;u2022 Assembles cleaning cart to conform to assigned cleaning duties and mixes and properly dilutes cleaning solutions in accordance with manufacturer directions;u2022 Checks supplies and equipment functioning, and notifies supervisor of low supply levels, equipment malfunction, and building maintenance issues noted during cleaning; andu2022 Clean and sanitize assigned areas and cover areas as needed. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Non-Competitive Appointment: Candidates must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position, understand, and carry out written and oral instructions.It is essential that candidates clearly and concisely indicate exactly how they meet the above minimum qualifications in their resume. Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent, non-competitive appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointeesu2019 negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits This position leads to a maximum salary of $42,565 based on annual performance advances. For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position.
