Student Health Services provides primary care to the student population. Experience Cortland dives deep into the regionu2019s offerings.Major Responsibilities: Clinical Assessment & Diagnosisu2022 Physical Examinations: Conduct directed histories and perform physical exams for students seeking acute medical care at the VanHoesen Hall office.u2022 Diagnostic Testing: Order, perform, and interpret laboratory and radiological studies required to reach an accurate diagnosis.u2022 Diagnostic Planning: Formulate tentative diagnoses and develop comprehensive treatment plans.u2022 Prescriptive Authority: Write prescriptions in strict accordance with New York State privileging guidelines for Nurse Practitioners.Patient Management & Coordinationu2022 Patient Education: Inform patients of clinical findings and provide instruction on pathophysiology, medication adherence, and self-care measures.u2022 Consultation: Collaborate with the supervising Nurse Practitioner Director regarding unusual or complex cases where a second opinion is required.u2022 Referral Services: Direct patients to local specialists, hospital emergency rooms, or primary care physicians when specialized care is pliance & Professional Standardsu2022 Confidentiality: Maintain strict patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and institutional standards.u2022 Cultural Competency: Deliver medical care in a culturally sensitive manner to a diverse student population.u2022 Certification: Ensure all professional credentials and CPR certifications remain current and up-to-date.SUNY Cortland: A top public university of approximately 6,600 students located in the geographic center of New York State, SUNY Cortland provides accessible, affordable education to students from across the U.S. body. Minimum Qualifications u2022 Open Competitive: certification and current registration as a Nurse Practitioner in a specialty practice area by the New York State Education Department.u2022 Bacheloru2019s in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.u2022 Must maintain NYS RN license and registration.Preferred Qualifications:u2022 National certification as a Nurse Practitioner such as American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
