Job Title: Staff Software Engineer - Individual ContributorJob Description We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer (Contingent Worker/Contractor) who can quickly integrate with our existing team and start delivering production-ready code within the first few weeks. In this role, you will design and implement complex concepts independently for robotic-assisted surgery products. You will collaborate closely with the engineering team and subject matter experts to develop market-leading software that meets customer and system requirements, following Agile methodology and sound software engineering principles to ensure safety, robustness, and user-friendliness. Responsibilities + Understand existing architecture, codebase, and development workflows swiftly. + Independently design and develop software components per defined requirements and architecture, adhering to design principles and coding standards. + Collaborate closely with the Project Management team and other engineers to ensure project success as a technical team member. + Follow defined SDLC procedures to ensure software quality through code review, unit and component tests, code analysis, and defect management. + Author software engineering documentation following R&D procedures per the Quality Management System. + Communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions clearly. Essential Skills + Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline. + 4+ years of work experience in software development. + Proficiency in C++ and Object-Oriented programming in a production environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Prior contractor or consulting experience with a track record of successful integration into teams. + Experience in Qt/QML framework, Linux, and/or Docker is a strong plus. + Knowledge of full SDLC and Agile software development with tools for static/dynamic analysis, memory management, unit testing, code coverage, CI/CD, security, and task/defect/requirement management. + Understanding of linear algebra, computational geometry, computer graphics, and software architecture design, including design patterns and software modeling. + Experience in medical imaging, image processing, computer vision, algorithm development, computer-assisted surgery, or robotics. + Experience with biomedical software development or software development in a regulated environment. Work Environment The work environment involves collaborating with a dynamic team of engineers and subject matter experts. The role requires adherence to Agile methodology and sound software engineering principles. The dress code is business casual, and you will be working with advanced technologies, including robotic-assisted surgery products, in a regulated environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Weston, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $95.00 - $97.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
