Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor Job Description The primary role of a Maintenance Supervisor is to establish, implement, and maintain long-range plans for improving maintenance activities while providing technical support to manufacturing departments. This position is responsible for effectively utilizing personnel, materials, and equipment in support of Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost (SPQRC) initiatives. Responsibilities + Implement and actively support corporate safety policies and plant housekeeping standards. + Diagnose equipment malfunctions, determine root causes, and initiate both immediate and long-term solutions. + Support the plant in achieving Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost goals. + Supervise construction and maintenance projects, ensuring schedule and quality requirements are met. + Assist in implementing divisional and corporate policies. + Train, develop, and evaluate employees while complying with Local and National Labor agreements. + Initiate contact with internal and external teams to solve problems as needed. + Implement planned maintenance activities and complete work assignments within budget, manpower, and timing constraints. Essential Skills + Willingness to work any assigned shift, including daily, weekend, and holiday overtime as required. + Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. + Knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts. + Experience in machine, assembly, and/or facility areas. + Knowledge of basic math, including trigonometry. + Experience in supervising a multi-trade workforce. + Strong knowledge of tooling, manufacturing, and assembly processes. + High level of analytical ability to solve complex problems. + Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with and motivate others. + Strong written and verbal communication skills. + Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. + Experience with Lotus Notes or other email communication tools. + Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Associate degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred. + Trained in skilled trades or equivalent technical training. + 0-2 years of experience in maintenance technician roles including preventive maintenance, maintenance repair, electrical troubleshooting, hydraulics, mechanical, pneumatics, and maintenance supervision. + 2+ years of experience as a Supervisor or Group Leader in manufacturing. + 5+ years of experience in skilled trades such as pipefitting, machine building, electrician, automation tech, or manufacturing maintenance tech. + Ability to lead and manage employees effectively. + Problem-solving skills with a focus on electrical troubleshooting. + Robotics experience. + Ability to hold team members accountable and demonstrate good job tenure, showing growth with 4+ years at a company. + UAW experience is highly preferred. + Experience in foundry or metal casting is a significant advantage. Work Environment This position is based in a metal casting facility and foundry, which is slightly more rugged than a typical facility, yet still well-maintained. The facility supplies to Tonawanda, NY, focusing on V6 and V8 engine blocks. Training occurs on the 1st shift for three weeks before transitioning to the 2nd or 3rd shift. The shift hours are 1st: 6 AM - 2 PM, 2nd: 2 PM - 10 PM, and 3rd: 10 PM - 7 AM. The role requires working every other weekend, with potential 16-hour shifts closer to launch periods. Personal protective equipment, including steel-toed shoes, earplugs, and safety glasses, is mandatory. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of SAGINAW, MI.
