Job Title: Phlebotomist Job Description The primary responsibility of the Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations in a laboratory setting. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data. + Decontaminate equipment and update patient information. + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. + Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods as required. + Demonstrate proficiency in using straight and butterfly needles. + Comprehend all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. + Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. + Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature. + Follow specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport. + Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Attend annual department trainings. + Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results. Essential Skills + Minimum of 2 years of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or outpatient setting. + Outpatient clinic experience. + Experience with all age group + Data entry and customer service skills. + OBGYN experience is preferred but not required. + Valid Phlebotomy certification is a plus + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. + High School Diploma or GED. Work Environment The position is located at an IOP in Marietta, GA. Work hours are Monday to Thursday from 8 AM to 5 PM and Friday from 8 AM to 12 PM. The role involves working in a diagnostic lab environment with opportunities for growth and longevity. Teamwork, punctuality, and customer-friendly service are highly valued. Employees will be trained to open/close, process specimens, and handle order entries. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marietta, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
