Job Title: Level III Machinist Job Description We are seeking a skilled and proactive Level III Machinist to join our expansive machine shop. The role involves operating CNC machines, performing quality checks, and supporting various operations within the machine shop. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working on multiple tasks and not just tied to one machine. You will be instrumental in ensuring the production of high-quality parts that meet blueprint and control plan specifications. Responsibilities + Perform production, quality control, housekeeping, and other related duties. + Set up and operate CNC machines, and operate wash tanks and forklifts to move materials. + Conduct quality checks using gauges, rules, calipers, and other measuring tools. + Troubleshoot and solve everyday manufacturing problems. + Demonstrate flexibility by moving between different machines as needed. Essential Skills + Experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly around machines. + Proficiency in running machines in a manufacturing environment, with CNC experience preferred. + Baseline experience with gauging and using quality measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and dial bores. + Competency in using sit-down and stand-up forklifts. + Strong math skills, especially in addition and subtraction for gauge reading. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints. + Experience in performing quality inspections on finished parts. + Deburring experience. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work in a large, temperature-controlled machine shop with over 500 employees across five shifts. The environment is clean and safety is a top priority, with minimal debris and a relaxed dress code allowing sweatshirts, t-shirts, and hats. PPE such as steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses are required, with the latter two provided. Shifts include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with overtime scheduled every other Saturday. Adherence to safety and equipment maintenance policies is mandatory. 2nd = 3PM-11PM M-F ($25.33) 3rd = 11PM-7AM Sun-TR ($25.33) 12 Hour Shifts (Machine Shop slowly moving to this) : 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am (Sun-Tue OR Wed-Fri) - work 36, only paid 36 ($24.47 - $25.33)- idea is picking up extra hours during week to meet 40. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.47 - $24.47/hr.
