The Flight Controls and Autonomy team is currently seeking highly motivated technology pioneers with a desire to steer and lead the Autonomy industry. The teamu2019s technical areas of emphasis include Fly-By-Wire Flight Control Systems, Guidance/Navigation & Control (GNC), Flight Test, Autonomy, Aviation Robotics, Perception, AI, and Motion Planning. THE WORK In this position the Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, optimization, lab testing and system level integration of software and firmware. Perform the development, review, integration, and test of software and firmware to be deployed on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), including navigation, control systems, communications, perception, and autonomous capabilities. Responsibilities may include the design, and support testing of embedded software in a lab facility, including integration with peripheral equipment including motor controllers, power regulation systems, battery control, and sensors. Please Note: US citizenship required as most programs and projects assigned are ITAR restricted. WHO YOU ARE You have the ability to rapidly develop embedded software and firmware and transition them to flight test. You can collaborate with other researchers and engineers across the autonomy and flight controls team. You can support various programs to develop autonomy including software development, test, system integration and flight tests. The candidate shall have strong coding skills in C/C++, Python, and MATLAB. This position is based in Stratford, CT. Basic Qualifications: u2022Bacheloru2019s degree in one of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering u20226 or more years of software engineer experience u2022Experience with embedded software programming and hands-on expertise of programming languages such as C, C++ and Python u2022Experience with modern software engineering tools and development frameworks (Git, CMake, gtest, or others) u2022Experience with software architecture and design u2022Experience with state machines, decision trees and behavioral planning Desired Skills: u2022Experience with inter communication protocols (i.e. TCP/IP, UDP, CAN bus, serial, ARINC 429) u2022Experience developing and debugging real-time embedded software and firmware (i.e. gdb) u2022Experience with GPU implementation u2022Experience with FPGA implementation u2022Experience in designing fault tolerant systems u2022Experience with the Linux operating system u2022Experience with embedded graphical rendering environments (i.e. QT, OpenGL, LVL) u2022Experience with Machine Learning applications in an embedded environment Experience working on safety-critical systems u2022Experience in a regulated, safety critical environment u2022Commitment to mentoring and team development Clearance Level: None Other Important Information You Should Know Expression of Interest: By applying to this job, you are expressing interest in this position and could be considered for other career opportunities where similar skills and requirements have been identified as a match. Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process. Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
