Physician - Cardiologist

Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Responsibilities The General Cardiologist provides specialized, comprehensive, and multidisciplinary care in all aspects of cardiology within the VA healthcare system. This role is critical in delivering high-quality care to our Veterans, working in conjunction with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for patients with cardiovascular conditions. Provide inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of a range of heart and vascular conditions. Perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as echocardiograms, cardiac catheterizations, stress tests, and electrocardiograms (EKGs). Prescribe appropriate medications and lifestyle modifications and develop patient care plans tailored to individual needs. Consult patients to understand their symptoms, medical histories, and determine appropriate diagnostic tests and treatment options. Educate patients and families on cardiovascular health, disease prevention, and treatment protocols. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives. Participate in departmental meetings, committee assignments, and VA quality improvement programs. Stay current with the latest research and advancements in cardiology and integrate evidence-based practices into clinical care.
