JOB REQUIREMENTS: Director, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS)Residency Program-Dentistry Posting Number: 201104660 Employment Status:Full Time Job Family: Faculty Position Overview Marquette UniversitySchool of Dentistry (MUSoD) seeks qualified candidates for a newlycreated full-time faculty position in the Department of Surgical andDiagnostic Sciences to serve as Founding Director of the Oral andMaxillofacial Surgery (OMFS ) Residency Program. This position willprovide leadership for the development, implementation, andaccreditation of a new OMFS residency program, including responsibilityfor resident recruitment, education, supervision, and ongoing programevaluation once residents are enrolled. As Wisconsin's only dentalschool, MUSoD is responding to workforce needs, expanding access to oralhealth care for underserved populations, and advancing dental educationacross the state. MUSoD serves patients on its main campus in Milwaukeeand through outreach clinics across Wisconsin, in partnership withaffiliated hospitals and health systems. The successful candidate willplay a key role in establishing the program's clinical, educational,and administrative infrastructure, followed by ongoing leadership of theresidency program in full compliance with ADA Commission on DentalAccreditation (CODA ) standards. Duties andResponsibilities Curriculum Development: Designing a training programthat covers full-scope OMFS (dentoalveolar, trauma, orthognathic,oncology, reconstruction, anesthesia). Accreditation Management:Maintaining compliance with CODA standards and managing site visits.Mentorship: Overseeing the educational progress, clinical performance,and well-being of residents. Assessment: Evaluating residents throughtools like the OMSITE examination and other formative and summativeassessments and standardized examinations. Setting: Experience in bothhospital and academic settings. Resident Recruitment: Overseerecruitment, selection, appointment, promotion, remediation, discipline,and dismissal in accordance with CODA standards and institutionalpolicies. Faculty Coordination: Ensure the program is supported byqualified and appropriately credentialed faculty and participate in theevaluation of their effectiveness in resident education. Oversee andcoordinate faculty both at MUSOD and at partner sites. OTHEREXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesEducation & Certification: DDS /DMD degree, completion of a CODA-accredited OMFS residency program, and active Board Certification bythe ABOMS . Licensure: Eligible for or holds a state-specific dentallicense and a General Anesthesia Certificate. Experience: Provenexperience in the full scope of OMFS . Teaching & Leadership: Preferred,3+ years of clinical/didactic teaching experience at a CODA -accreditedinstitution, and previous experience in a leadership role (director orassociate). Accreditation Knowledge: Familiarity with CODA processes andstandards. Academic/Research: A record of scholarly activity, research,or participation in organized dentistry. Preferred Knowledge, Skills andAbilities ABD may be considered.
