DBNS is the City of Indianapolis and Marion Countyu2019s principal department responsible for business licenses, residential and commercial permits, and the enforcement of the Revised Code of Ordinances of the Consolidated City and County. The department also oversees operations at the cityu2019s animal shelter, Indianapolis Animal Care Services. DBNS is able to do this by cultivating a productive, collaborative, and compliant work environment in order for our workforce to meet the needs of the constituents of Indianapolis and Marion County. Position Responsibilities + When required, conducts high weeds and grass inspections. + Creates high weeds and grass investigation cases for initial inspection process. + Enters inspections and abatement results related to high weeds and grass investigation and violation cases. + Reviews high weeds and grass abatement photographs for accuracy. + Prints and mails notice of violations and invoices. + Directs public information request to the appropriate staff. + Researches property ownership, registered agents, and tenant information for cases. + Provides vendors with a list of properties requiring nuisance abatement. + When required, communicates with vendors to obtain additional information. + Answers phones and directs the caller to the appropriate staff. + Return calls to citizens and directs the callers concerns to the appropriate staff. + Organizes shared case information. Qualifications High School diploma, equivalent or College with valid driver's license. Effective communications both oral and written, some knowledge of city streets and locations, ability to keep accurate records and basic computer skills are required. May be required to assist in other areas of the department where needed.
