The Department of Medicine has built aworld-class reputation for cutting-edge research, compassionate patientcare, and hands-on training programs for resident physicians andclinical fellows. TheChief Administrative Officer provides administrative leadership andoperational expertise for the integration of the clinical, educational,and research programs of the department. The Department of Medicine hasmultiple affiliations including UW Health (UWH), UW School of Medicineand Public Health (UW SMPH), the UW Medical Foundation (UWMF), theWilliam S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, the WisconsinFoundation and Alumni Association (WFAA), each with uniqueadministrative structures, systems and varying rules, regulations,bylaws, and missions. The Department of Medicine is organized intosub-specialty divisions of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical CareMedicine; Cardiovascular Medicine; Endocrinology, Diabetes, andMetabolism; Gastroenterology and Hepatology; General Internal Medicine;Geriatrics and Gerontology; Hematology, Medical Oncology, and PalliativeCare; Hospital Medicine; Infectious Disease; Nephrology; andRheumatology.
