Marine Electrician Technician - San Diego, CA - Career Opportunity Job Description + The Marine Electrician will support the Field Installation Services organization on board US Navy ships. Responsibilities include the installation, termination, and testing of fiber optic and copper cable assemblies necessary to support a variety of ship's services, including power, communication, telephone, and alarm systems. The role requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to work from customer drawings with keen attention to detail. Responsibilities + Install, tag, and band fiber optic and copper cables on various classes of surface and submarine Naval vessels. + Perform duties required to layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring, coaxial cable, waveguides, or fiber optic cable onboard Navy vessels. + Troubleshoot and test fiber and copper cables and circuits. + Possess skills and abilities to perform the requirements of a shipboard or airframe electrician's trade with minimal supervision. + Read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, and design notices. + Use tools of the trade such as multimeters, pin crimpers, and soldering equipment. + Accomplish complex tasks associated with electrical installation of cables, military circular connectors, panel box, and power terminations. Essential Skills + Experience with multi-pin copper connectors. + Ability to work from customer drawings. + Familiarity with basic computer skills and MS-Office programs, including Word and Excel. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Multi-pin connector and cableway and/or cable handling certification highly preferred. + Former Navy experience as an Electronics Technician (ET), Information Systems Technician (IC), Aviation Maintenance (AT), or Electrician's Mate (EM) is ideal. + A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience working in ship repair onboard US Navy ships, with technical education potentially substituting for part of the experience requirement. Work Environment + Work will be performed at CMSD aboard the USS PEARL HARBOR (LSD-52). The position may require overtime, including weekends, and travel for extended periods of time when necessary. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.
