Job Description

Overview The Procurement and Site Services Manager is a strategic individual contributor responsible for leading site-level procurement operations while developing and executing category strategies aligned with US Procurement and Site Operations objectives. This role drives cost optimization, supplier performance, contract management, and procurement best practices for both direct and indirect goods and services, with a strong focus on chemicals and reagents supporting site operations. In addition to strategic sourcing responsibilities, this position provides direct supervision and operational oversight of two facility maintenance staff, ensuring effective coordination of site services and alignment between procurement strategy and facility operational needs. The ideal candidate combines strong strategic sourcing expertise, analytical capability, and negotiation skills with practical leadership abilities and time management discipline in a site-based environment. Responsibilities Strategic Procurement & Category Management u2022 Develops and executes category strategies for reagent and chemical spend, including supplier identification, strategic alliances, and cost driver analysis. u2022 Leads RFP/RFQ processes for major direct and indirect categories; evaluates proposals, negotiates commercial terms, awards contracts, and ensures compliance. u2022 Drives measurable cost savings and value creation initiatives at both site and corporate levels. u2022 Leverages aggregated spend across locations to negotiate optimal total cost of ownership (TCO) solutions. u2022 Establishes and maintains supplier performance metrics and conducts periodic business reviews. u2022 Ensures procurement policies and procedures reflect industry best practices and corporate governance standards. u2022 Implements data-driven sourcing strategies using spend analytics and market intelligence tools. u2022 Develops risk mitigation plans for critical suppliers, including supply continuity, geopolitical risk, and market volatility assessment. u2022 Partners cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, Quality, EH&S, and Legal to align procurement strategy with business objectives. Site Purchasing & Facility Oversight u2022 Supervises one purchasing specialist and three facility maintenance staff, including goal setting, performance management, and development. u2022 Coordinates procurement support for maintenance, facilities, and site operational requirements. u2022 Ensures timely sourcing of MRO supplies and services necessary for uninterrupted site operations. u2022 Supports capital expenditure (CapEx) procurement activities in collaboration with engineering and facilities teams. u2022 Monitors vendor compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards applicable to facility services. Qualifications Experience / Education u2022 BA/BS in Business, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, or related field required. u2022 Graduate degree in Business or Supply Chain preferred. u2022 APICS, CPM, CPSM, or similar professional certification preferred. u2022 5+ years of direct and/or indirect procurement experience. u2022 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred. u2022 Experience in chemicals, life sciences, biotechnology, or regulated industries strongly preferred. u2022 Experience working in a matrixed, multi-site, or global procurement environment preferred. u2022 Demonstrated experience with category management, strategic sourcing methodology, and contract lifecycle management. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: u2022 Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. u2022 Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. u2022 Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). u2022 Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling) required. u2022 Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) required. u2022 Experience with e-procurement platforms and supplier management tools (e.g., Ariba, Coupa, Jaggaer, or equivalent) preferred. u2022 Familiarity with spend analytics, data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and reporting dashboards preferred. u2022 Understanding of contract law fundamentals and commercial terms & conditions. u2022 Knowledge of ESG/sustainable sourcing principles preferred. u2022 Ability to influence stakeholders across functions without direct authority. u2022 Strong organizational and time management skills. u2022 Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information. u2022 Demonstrated ability to operate as a hands-on strategic individual contributor while providing supervisory oversight. u2022 Strong negotiation skills balanced with the ability to build long-term supplier partnerships. u2022 Financial acumen with the ability to analyze cost structures and present business cases. u2022 Ability to prioritize savings opportunities and manage multiple sourcing initiatives simultaneously. u2022 Experience implementing or optimizing procurement systems, workflows, or digital tools. u2022 Understanding of supply chain risk management and business continuity planning. u2022 5u201310% domestic travel. Physical Requirements: u2022 Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods. u2022 Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach. u2022 Ability to travel via plane or train as required.
