Join us and take your place in space.The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, technology development, warfighter capability enablers, systems integration, defense industrial base, and threat reduction to help shape existing and future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including the U.S. Space Force, U.S. Space Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of technical support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers' portfolios as well as horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. Additionally, DSG provides deep technical expertise to the Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) in the conception, design, acquisition, launch and operations of satellite, launch vehicle, ground control, and range systems.Join a high performing team focused on technical analysis of space systems, helping overcome our nation's toughest challenges across the space enterprise. The Space Systems Engineer is responsible for providing technical assessments of foreign space systems and leveraging technical intelligence to outpace the threat. Primary responsibilities include providing engineering support to our customers at the National Space Intelligence Center (NSIC) as part of the Project West Wing (PWW) team co-located with the customer.The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.What You'll Be DoingActing as technical contributor, consultant, and primary project coordinator on space system engineering analysis projectsPartnering with government teams to produce impactful technical assessments of space systemsWorking with technical intelligence at customer location to increase value of analytical resultsLeveraging engineering analytic tools informed by technical intelligence to assess space system performance parametersFacilitating interaction between customers and Aerospace technical and management staffCoordinating large-scale technical efforts across program/project linesProviding strategic leadership to resiliency efforts within the US space enterpriseWhat You Need to be SuccessfulMinimum Requirements - Project Engineer - Systems and Scientific & Technical Intelligence Engineering:Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in science, engineering, or mathematics8 or more years of professional experience in aerospace engineering or related fieldDemonstrated interest in and understanding of relevant satellite threat technologies and their applications; e.g., electronic warfare, directed energy, high power microwaves, kinetic effects, cyberExperience in satellite systems analysis executing range of engineering and modeling toolsExperience in analysis of onboard satellite data processing, onboard decision-making, and mission-enabling software to execute onboard processesUnderstanding of cyber aspects of space systems analysis including space system cyber securityMust be comfortable in a rapidly changing environment and have a strong demonstrated personal initiativeExperience working closely with government tea
