This role systematically investigates clinical incidents, accidents, and events that could lead to patient harm or financial loss. This position also ensures compliance with risk management activities, including the internal event report system and patient grievance process. Other expectations include identifying areas of risk and facilitating mitigation strategies.Manages regulatory surveys related to complaints against AdventHealth and Risk Management Program Surveys.Monitors, analyzes, and reports aggregated event report data to hospital leaders, focusing on risk exposures for trends or patterns.Serves as a resource to hospital administration, employees, and physicians on Risk Management, legal, and ethical issues, including off-hour and holiday coverage as tegrates the risk management program with the quality and safety activities of the assigned areas.Identifies, investigates, and reports, facilitating the Root Cause Analysis & Action process.Develops, implements, and maintains educational risk management programs for all personnel and leadership on identified issues and related activities as required by law.Assesses operational and clinical risk across assigned areas. Develops, manages, and administers facility-wide systems for risk identification, investigation, and reduction.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Excellent interpersonal, analytical, critical-thinking, oral and written communication skills [Required]Understanding of medical terminology and technology, medical procedures/treatments, their usual risks, and expected outcomes [Required]Understanding of conflict resolution [Required]Basic knowledge of federal legislation and state statutes relevant to Risk Management and patient safety activities [Required]Ability to prioritize a diverse workload and possess the ability to work under pressure and deadlines [Required]Ability to facilitate and/or manage process improvement projects as assigned [Required]Ability to work in a matrix environment with multiple teams [Required]Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite [Required]Education:Bachelor's in health care related field [Required]Work Experience:3+ registered nurse, advanced registered nurse practitioner, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, speech pathologist, radiology technologist, ultrasound technician, physician assistant, paramedic, pharmacist, and three to five years clinical experience in a healthcare-related field or [Required]3+ risk management or claims field [Required]Claims management/litigation prevention and healthcare risk management process [Preferred]Experience in process improvement/patient safety/clinical risk management/quality activities [Required]Licenses and Certifications:Registered Nurse (RN) [Required] ORAdult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNPC) [Required] ORRegistered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) [Required] OROccupational Therapist (OT) [Required] ORPhysical Therapist (PT) [Required] ORPhysician Assistant (PA) [Required] ORLicensed Paramedic (PARA) [Required] ORLicensed Pharmacist (RPH) [Required] ORCertified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) [Required]Physical Requirements: (Please click the link below to view work requirements)Physical Requirements - Range:$63,841.23 - $118,740.34This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
