Marine Electrician - San Diego, CA - Career Opportunity (Immediately Hiring) Job Description + As a Marine Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems aboard ships. Your role involves working with various electrical equipment, laying out and installing cables, and ensuring all electrical services on the ship are fully operational. Responsibilities + Prepare work areas, drill holes, and grind metal surfaces. + Install welds and hook up equipment. + Lay out, pull, rip out, repair, and install cable and conduit. + Test electrical equipment. + Read composite blueprints, computer printouts, and Navy standards manual. + Remove scrap and perform general clean up tasks. + Perform electrical repairs and new construction aboard private vessels. + Troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect, clean, reassemble, and test electrical equipment. Essential Skills + Knowledge of Navy AC (60 and 400 Hz) and DC electrical systems. + Familiarity with Navy electrical and electronic systems. + Proficiency in using common electrical measuring instruments and electronic measuring devices. + Ability to fabricate cable runs and wire ways. + Experience with electrical systems such as switchboards, switchgear, distribution panels, and controls. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Two years of marine electrical experience and/or four years of electrical experience required. + Ability to work 1st and 2nd shifts and in varying conditions, including heights and confined spaces. + Capability to use power and hand tools, and read composite blueprints and Navy standards manuals. + Must comprehend written and verbal instructions and safety regulations. Work Environment + The work is primarily conducted in new construction settings, with potential work at 32nd St Naval Base or North Island. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
