Medical Assistant Job Description This is a Medical Assistant position located in New Smyrna Beach. The role requires a flexible, dedicated, and professional individual who will provide quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician, focusing on both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. Responsibilities + Perform quality team-based patient care under the supervision of a clinician. + Support clinician and care management teams in chronic disease management. + Conduct laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks. + Perform and document patient intake vitals such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate. + Interview patients and update medical records with chief complaints, medications, allergies, and medical histories. + Obtain necessary medical records and diagnostic results for clinician review and treatment follow-up. + Report laboratory results to healthcare clinicians and alert them of any critical or out-of-range values. + Prepare specimens for reference lab send-outs with proper labeling and billing information. + Perform and document daily, weekly, and monthly quality control and instrument maintenance. Essential Skills + Medical assisting and patient care experience. + Phlebotomy skills including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks. + MA Diploma/Certification required or a minimum of 3 years MA experience. + Active BLS certification. + Valid driver's license. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with EMR and electronic health records. + Knowledge of medical terminology. + Skills in appointment scheduling and insurance verification. + Experience in triage, pediatric, and internal medicine settings. + Ability to conduct patient education and front desk duties. + RMA certification and bilingual abilities are a plus. + Proficient in data entry and obtaining patient vitals. + Experience in family medicine. Work Environment The position is patient-facing and involves indoor work. It requires operating a computer and may involve exposure to hazards. The role requires manual dexterity and the ability to lift/carry up to 10 lbs. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, and Saturdays on rotation (up to 2 times a month) from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
