Job Title: Quality Assurance Job Description Join our team as a Quality Assurance professional to inspect structural steel parts and assemblies during both pre-fabrication and post-fabrication stages. In this role, you will maintain formal documentation of all quality occurrences for improvement, training, and company betterment. You will be responsible for ensuring all products are properly identified and marked according to Quality Control documentation. Your role will also involve conducting and documenting inspections, calibrations, and tests, and promptly informing management of any product or equipment issues. You will work closely with management and production personnel to meet and exceed product quality standards while supporting safety and production programs. Responsibilities + Inspect structural steel parts and assemblies during pre-fabrication and post-fabrication. + Maintain formal documentation of all quality occurrences for improvement and training. + Perform housekeeping responsibilities and implement 5S organizational methodology. + Ensure products are identified and marked appropriately according to Quality Control documentation. + Conduct and maintain documentation of pre-fabrication and post-fabrication inspections. + Perform shop drawing corrections and calibrations, including tape measure and mill tester calibrations. + Conduct stud welding tests and inform management of any nonconformity or equipment issues. + Collaborate with management and production personnel to ensure quality standards are met. + Support safety and production programs. Essential Skills + Quality control expertise + Experience with pre-fabrication and post-fabrication inspections + Proficiency in shop drawing corrections and calibrations + Experience with welding and quality assurance + Strong attention to detail + Excellent communication skills + Flexibility and professionalism + Teamwork Additional Skills & Qualifications + 2+ years in the structural steel industry or relatable welding/fabrication industry + Basic math and computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel + Physical ability to walk and stand for extended periods, lift up to 75 lbs, crawl, and climb ladders + Proficiency in AWS D1.1 welding standards + Mastery of Quality Control testing and inspection records + Ability to read and interpret shop drawings Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a smaller metal fabrication shop in Carlisle, Iowa, with approximately 30 employees. The facility, though new, may be more dirty due to the nature of the work. The work schedule is flexible, generally starting at 7am, with most Fridays ending around 2pm. The position involves working closely with production teams in a collaborative environment, with the possibility of working long hours as needed. The work environment requires adaptability and physical endurance. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlisle, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
