The New York Post is looking for a motivated, dynamic DC News Reporting Intern (40 hrs/week) to join our Washington, D.C. team this summer. This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the fast-paced world of political journalism and gain hands-on experience at the heart of the action. As an intern, youu2019ll contribute directly to our hard-hitting coverage of the latest political stories, government affairs, and breaking news from the nationu2019s capital. Working alongside our experienced D.C. team, youu2019ll have the chance to cover everything from Congressional hearings to White House press conferences to key political developments, all while helping our audience stay informed on the issues that matter most. If youu2019re eager to dive deep into the world of D.C. politics and be part of a high-energy, deadline-driven newsroom, this internship is the perfect opportunity to build your skills and make your mark. Note: This internship is scheduled to run from June 1, 2026 - August 7, 2026 . Participants are expected to work full time hours and adhere to our on-site work schedule. Open to current juniors and seniors pursuing a BA, MA students, and recent graduates who completed their degree within the past year. Priority consideration will be given to applications received by March 15th. What Youu2019ll Do: + Report on breaking news and political stories, including coverage of Capitol Hill, the White House, and key government events. + Attend Congressional hearings, press briefings, and other political events to gather firsthand information and report on the latest developments. + Assist in developing story ideas and pitches, ensuring coverage stays fresh and relevant to our audience. + Research, verify, and fact-check information to support ongoing political stories and investigations. + Write and contribute to news articles under the guidance of experienced reporters and editors, meeting the high standards of the New York Post. + Stay on top of political news, contributing fresh insights and commentary on trending topics in D.C. What Weu2019re Looking For: + A strong interest in politics and hard news, with the ability to spot compelling stories that resonate with our audience. + Excellent organizational skills and the ability to thrive under pressure, managing multiple tasks and tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom. + A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn, with a desire to get out in the field and experience political journalism firsthand. + A solid understanding of the political landscape and current events in Washington, D.C. + Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and engaging news stories. + A keen eye for detail, accuracy, and verification in reporting.
