Payroll Specialist

Description We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a diverse workforce across multiple states and union jurisdictions. Responsibilities: u2022 Process weekly payroll for various entities, covering approximately one hundred employees across different states, unions, and job sites. u2022 Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including prevailing wage requirements, certified payroll, garnishments, and labor laws. u2022 Handle payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and year-end reporting, such as W-2s and 1099s. u2022 Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams to resolve discrepancies related to timekeeping, benefits, and employment changes. u2022 Conduct system audits, troubleshoot payroll errors, and maintain the accuracy and integrity of payroll data. u2022 Generate customized payroll reports for job costing, audits, and management review. u2022 Monitor and stay updated on payroll trends and regulatory changes specific to the construction industry. Requirements u2022 Minimum of 3 yearsu2019 experience in high-volume, multi-state payroll processing; experience in the construction industry is preferred. u2022 Proficiency in payroll systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. u2022 Strong knowledge of payroll tax compliance and wage/hour laws across multiple states. u2022 Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. u2022 Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. u2022 Associateu2019s degree in accounting, finance, or business is preferred; payroll certifications are highly desirable.
