Electronic Technician - Photocopiers (40 hrs/wk, 260 days)Equipment RepairTO APPLY:Direct Link: Page: note, employers may close jobs on the website at any time.SUMMARY DESCRIPTIONUnder general supervision of the Equipment Repair Shop Manager, performs a variety of electronic and electro-mechanical diagnostic and repair and firmware upgrades procedures in the field and at the bench. Technical responsibilities include the repair and maintenance of a wide variety of bond paper photocopiers and/or treated paper photocopiers and auxiliary equipment such as fax machines, automatic and semi-automatic document feeders. Incumbent performs related work as required.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Repairs and performs emergency periodic and preventative maintenance on a wide variety of copiers.- Diagnoses and repairs electrical and mechanical problems.- Utilizes diagnostic analog, digital multi-meters, high voltage thermal, and logic proves and visual/audio inspections to diagnose failures.- Utilizes soldering to fabricate plastic and metal parts.- Computer skills in Microsoft Office Products.- Ability to maintains a library of technical repair manual, up-to-dated bulletins.- Orders maintain inventory of related parts, supplies and materials.- Assists with the preparation of photocopier bids.- Estimates materials and labor costs.- Maintains clean and orderly work area, vehicle, parts inventory, and tools.- Prepares and maintains operational records and reports.- Acts as technical resource for photocopiers.- May provide technical training to District personnel in proper usage and minor repair procedures for a wide variety of photocopiers.- Assist other shop technicians in the maintenance and repair of equipment such as laminating machines, audio-visual equipment, and maintain computers software as needed.QUALIFICATIONSAny combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain knowledge and skills would be:Education: Four (4) years of varied experience in the repair of photocopiers, including experience with a minimum of three (3) different copier manufacturers.OREquivalent to completion of an apprenticeship program from an approved trade or technical school in photocopier repair or electronics.ANDExperience: Two (2) years of varied experience in the repair of photocopiers, including experience with a minimum of three (3) different copier PETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIESKnowledge of:- Microprocessor, micro-controllers, and electrical mechanical theory.- Electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical theory.- Techniques, procedures, and tools used in the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of bond and/or treated paper photocopiers.- Occupational hazards and safety precautions.Skill in:- Working independently.- Diagnosing and performing preventative maintenance and repair work on bond and/or treated paper photocopiers.- Working with a variety of electronic testing and diagnostic equipment.- Utilizing hand, power, soldering tools required for repair and part fabrications.- Reading, interpreting, and following mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics technical manuals, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, flow charts, timing, and specification sheets.- Observing safety practices.- Understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions.- Preparing and maintaining related operational records and reports.- Computer skills in Microsoft Office Products.- Input ing daily hours, comments, and closing out assigned work orders in Facility One work order management system.Ability to:- Handle a variety of work orders and complete work on schedule.- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.Special Requirements:Working hours may include evening and weekends as required.
