Job Description This full-time, contract position as a CAD Technician 3 involves supporting electrical engineers and CAD staff within the RAS Engineering organization of the Transmission Services business line. This role requires collaboration with various internal engineering disciplines to prepare and manage design packages using MicroStation CAD software. + Utilize MicroStation CAD software to prepare project designs, sketches, final working drawings, and contract documents. + Manage user files within CAD systems, including plotting, printing, and maintaining records. + Examine and verify specifications for drafting data from electronic schematics and supporting documents. + Review and ensure conformity of CAD sketches, drawings, and specifications to design concepts. + Collaborate with engineers to develop and draft reports and presentations for approval. + Travel to field locations to gather information for project documentation. + Interpret and apply CAD standards into design packages. + Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings. + Prepare Bills of Materials and Material Requisitions using established procedures. + Assist in the preparation and review of installation diagrams and design drawings. + Provide status updates on CAD work including activity summaries and project progress. + Maintain a thorough familiarity with CAD and design standards. + Communicate with stakeholders to improve drawing organization processes and productivity. + Participate in efforts to improve organizational procedures and enhance service quality. + Document and maintain records in compliance with information security standards. + Provide drawing support for design packages and perform quality design, layout, and production of various engineering drawings. + Assist in pre-engineering research to control product reliability and accuracy. + Consult with engineering staff to discuss design concepts and resolve problems. + Assemble documentation packages and produce checked drawing sets. + Organize and analyze drawings, discuss project complexity, and assist with administrative duties. Qualifications + High school diploma or GED is required. + 7 years of CAD Drafting experience. + 5 years of experience in the electrical field or substation design. + Expert proficiency in MicroStation CAD software. + Familiarity with technical CAD drafting methods related to Electrical systems. + Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. + Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks. + Associate or bacheloru2019s degree in computer-aided design or a closely related field is preferred. + 5 years of experience with ProjectWise software. + Knowledge of design techniques and principles for precision technical plans and models. + Desirable knowledge of materials, methods, and tools for Remedial Action Schemes (RAS). + Advanced work experience in an electrical design environment. + Excellent written and oral communication skills. Work Environment This position is set in a slower-paced office environment with somewhat flexible hours, typically starting at 7 AM. The attire is business casual, and the work style is very independent, with minimal supervision. The role is deadline-driven and may involve waiting on approvals and paperwork from others. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Vancouver, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $46.00 - $52.00/hr.
