Washes, peels, cuts and seeds vegetables and fruits and cleans and cuts meats, poultry and seafoodPrepares salad bar and serves food to participants and staff during meal timesCleans work areas, equipment and utensils and washes dishes after food preparation and meal timesComplies with applicable health and safety codesProvide courteous and helpful service to guests at all timesAssist with re-stocking and inventory rotation not limited to dry and refrigerated goodsAbility to stand for extended periods of timePhysical ability to lift 20+ poundsVisual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency and follow the branch emergency planMinimum 18 years of age or olderHigh School Diploma or GEDFood Handler Certification required prior to first shift in the kitchenFamiliar with general kitchen operations including, food handling, portion control, and use and care of basic equipment and utensilsMust display a positive attitude towards customers and staff, willingness to help others and good communication skillsLicensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and includesubsequentarrest notificationsCPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:American Red CrossAmerican Heart AssociationAmerican Safety & Health InstituteYMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
