POSITION SUMMARYThis is a non-exempt hourly position that has discretion to make decisions and has access to confidential employee and business information. The purpose of this position is to ensure in collaboration with the Nurse Manager for each neighborhood that safe, appropriate and goal-directed care is provided in a consistent manner, to provide support and direction to nursing staff, and to ensure the implementation of the Medical Staff and Nursing Department policies and procedures.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIESEvery effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or is an essential function of the position.Understands and promotes Elizabeth Seton Children’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure application with organizational policies and procedures.Perform clinical evaluations of residents for acute illness or change in status.Provide medical services for residents who have chronic issues as neededOrder medications and ensure proper administration.Use Center electronic medical record for documentation and orderingProvide emergency services for residents and staff as needed.Assist Employee Health office with immunizations, PPD placement and reading, and staff assessments as needed.Provide coverage for Employee Health service as neededAddress abnormal laboratory results and document assessment and plans.Order and arrange transfer of residents to acute care facilities as indicated, including provision of written consultation and telephone call to receiving ED.Write thorough notes including history, physical exam, assessment, and plan for resident encounters.Provide end-of-shift sign out to nursing and medical staff.Make rounds to ensure that all residents are seen at least one time per shift.In partnership with nurse supervisor, take active role in education, support, and guidance of staff. Meet with parents, physicians, other staff, and/or administration as needed.Maintain knowledge base through continuing professional education programs and provide documentation to medical staff office.Provide coverage for Infection Control, including formulating and distributing daily Infection Control Memo, as neededWrite comprehensive monthly progress notes in conjunction with attending physicianServe as highest ranking staff member when administrator or designee is not in facilityOther related duties as may become necessary or as directed by supervisor, department director, and/or administration.Education Requirements:Graduate of an accredited RN programS. N.; M.S.N. NP CertificationRN and NP in the State of New YorkBCLS certificatePALS certification preferredCompletion of courses mandated for continuation of RN license, (ex. Infection Control course; Child Abuse course.)DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) Certification is requiredGraduate of an accredited MD programLicense to practice medicine in the State of New YorkCertification by the American Board of PediatricsCertified (or eligible for application) by the Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (AMDA)National Provider Identifier (NPI) Number RequiredPOSITION REQUIREMENTSExperience in pediatric and adolescent chronic and restorative nursing modalities preferredEmployee Requirements:Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies.Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination.Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds.Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the resident’s blood/body fluids.Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary.Working Conditions:Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area.Will be subject to frequent interruptions.May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.Hourly Rate:$90/Hour.
