Other minor duties may be assigned.: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.Other duties may be assigned.Conduct railcar and train movements; signal crew members for movement of the engine or train using lantern, hand, and/or flag signals or radio toindicatewhen to start, stop, back up, or set or release air brakesObserve, interpret, and relay arm, lantern or radio signals and all other indications affecting movement of a trainOperate track switches (visually check switch condition and direction) to change the direction of the engine or cars within yard limits or on the main railroad; apply or release hand brakes to switch or perform other dutiesInspect the condition of the train and equipment in movement and while stationaryCouple air connections betweenrailcars and railcar moverswhen making up trainsAssistwith other projects and perform other duties as assignedEnsure compliance with all train orders, signals, and railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations, and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)Monitor track conditionsand report any issuesPerform ER checksutilizingtechnology in the form of a tabletand/or computer for all arriving anddepartingtrainsFollow OSHA safety standards and wear required PPE Requirements and Qualifications:: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.Ability toutilizetechnology in the form of a tablet and/or computerHigh school/GED education completed, higher education is a plusMust be able tolift/push/pullat least50poundsMinimum 1 year ofrail conductingexperienceAble to work in an outdoor environment on a constant basis while being exposed to variable weather conditions, temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, smells, and loud noises.
