IntroductionWe have an exciting opportunity for an RN to join Memorial Health Heart & Lung Surgical Care. This role supports a busy cardiothoracic surgery practice comprised of three CT surgeons and three Advanced Practice Providers . Theregistered nurse cardiac -vascular possesses advanced knowledge and skill in the area of cardiac nursing. Theregistered cardiac -vascular nurse demonstrates criticalthinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient.What you will do in this role:Uses critical thinking skills to assess facts and make rational decisions quickly and effectively when working with patients who have heart complicationsParticipates as part of an interdisciplinary care team in the treatment of cardiac - vascular conditions such as heart failure, heart valve disorders, high blood pressure, vascular disorders, heart attack and arrythmiaInterprets data and responds to urgent situations in a way thatoptimizespatient care and produces positive outcomes.Usesanalytical skills to review test results, draw conclusions, and advise on treatment plans.Performs and interprets various cardiac and vascular lab testsWorks closely with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, electrophysiologists, and other physicians in the care and treatment of full range of cardiovascular conditionsParticipates in clinical trials and clinical research programs as per clinic needsDocuments legible and concise entries in the medical record.Documents complete medical history on each patientoninitialsession and updated medicalrecordappropriately with each visit.Performsappropriate patient preparationfor each visit and/or procedure.Performs medication reconciliation on each visit.Educates patients on cardiovascular diseases, including but not limited to preventive measuresHelps diagnose and treat cardiovascular eventsAssists in performing diagnostic tests such as ECG’s, EKG’sInitiatives Holter and Event monitorsInteracts with the patients as well as their families pre and post treatmentMonitors the patient and their vitals, especially cardiovascular readingsAssesses and interprets lab resultsPossesses knowledge of ACC/AHA guidelines related to heart failureMakes critical decisions concerning the initiative of emergency medical procedures as appropriateMaintains an orderly, efficient, andtimelyflow of patients.Greetspatients andpreparesthem forphysician’sexamination.Provides general nursing care to patients as necessary for office treatment.Screens patients for structs patients in collection ofsamples and tests.Arranges for patient testing and admissions.Checkrooms daily for necessary supplies.Responds to and refers incomingtelephone structs patients and family regarding medicationsand treatment instructions.Maintains and reviews patients’ records and other pertinent information.Poststests and examination results.Maintains patientconfidentially.Administers medicationsin accordance withphysician orders.Maintains current knowledge toassurea safe working environment anddemonstratespractical application of all policies and proceduresrelativeto safety and infection control.Utilizes universal precautions in any potential contact with patient body fluids or used patient supplies that may be contaminated with patient body fluids.Projects a positive image of the facility in all interactions and supporting effective team functioning.What Qualifications you will need:EDUCATION:Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing is required.EXPERIENCE:Minimum of threeyearsregisterednurse cardiac - vascular experience in an acute care or cardiology clinic settingrequired.CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:BLSrequiredupon hireACLSrequiredwithin60 daysof hireCurrent unrestricted license as a Registered Nursein accordance withstate regulationsCardiac Medicine Certification (CMC) through American Association of Critical Care Nursing (AACN) preferred ORCardiac Vascular Nursing Certification (CV-BC) through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) preferredSupporting HCA Healthcare's 186 hospitals and 2,400+ sites of care, Physician Services plays a crucial role as the main entry point for patients looking for high-quality healthcare within the HCA Healthcare system.
