No County Livingston Street Address Caledonia Fish Hatchery City Caledonia State NY Zip Code 14426 Duties Description General fish care; daily cleaning of rearing units, removal of mortality, distinguish and communicate presence of disease, utilize microscope and gross observation to determine disease and work with supervisor for treatment. Calculate chemical treatments. Assist in moving, inventorying and sampling fish using displacement calculation. Assist in determining proper densities for safe transport and loading stocking trucks. Assist in stocking fish to local waters. Maintain daily record keeping and enter into NYS Fish Culture record database. Fish and avian species identification. Individual will assist in communicating with the public; conducting tours at facility, choregraphing public assistance while stocking and assisting in public outreach events. General maintenance around facility including but not limited to grounds keeping, rearing unit repair, construction, painting and power washing. Minimum Qualifications Thirty (30) semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries, marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography. Preferred: Experience with automotive and construction equipment. Additional Comments This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 11/30/2026. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Must have a valid driveru2019s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.Must be able to work in remote areas.Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required.Weekends and holidays may be required.
